Purchasing information

Advance orders: Email sales@hickoryhillranch.com to reserve birds. Orders greater than 100 birds require a non-refundable 20% deposit.

Indiana regulations: The State of Indiana regulates the possession of pheasants; more information is on the Indiana DNR website.

Tax exempt: Tax-exempt purchasers of live birds must provide Indiana form ST-105 at the time of purchase or reservation.

Transportation crates: Crates are available for transporting birds at no cost, but a fully refundable $75 deposit per crate is required. Availability cannot be guaranteed.

Pricing & availability

We will not have any pheasants available for the 2026 season.

Pheasants are $15 a bird for orders of fewer than 100 birds. Please contact us if you would like to purchase more than 100 birds. Contact us for current-season availability by breed.

About our pheasants

We have raised and sold pheasants for several years and learned a great deal in the process. We get our pheasants when they are a day old and raise them in a combination of inside and outside facilities, including an expanded flight pen covering 10,000 square feet that helps them become even better flyers.

Pheasants are ready for pickup starting at the beginning of November and must be picked up by the middle of December.

Our pheasants are raised in a large flight pen that gives them plenty of room to move, stretch, and exercise their wings. Pheasants are strong fliers, and the pen lets them run, flap, and fly much as they would in the wild — with excellent cover for shade and shelter.

Our pheasant breeds

Manchurian Cross Ringneck pheasant — Manchurian Cross Ringneck — an excellent flight bird, similar in size to the Chinese Ringneck (cock ~3.25 lbs, hen ~2.5 lbs). A hardy, vigorous cross that is great for hunting.

Chinese Ringneck pheasant — Chinese Ringneck — used primarily for stocking and hunting (cock 2.7-3 lbs, hen 1.7-2.2 lbs at maturity). Hardy birds prized for their flying ability and brilliant colors.

Melanistic Mutant pheasant — Melanistic Mutant — large, beautiful birds with iridescent greenish-black plumage; a favorite for release, known for surviving and reproducing in the wild (cock ~3.5 lbs, hen ~2.5 lbs).
